DIY Christmas Bell Ornaments out of used coffee pods
I love coffee and coffee machines, so I got myself once a Dolce Gusto Coffee maker. It makes great coffee and other beverages, cold or warm, but I hated the fact that you produce so much non-recyclable waste just to have a cup of coffee, so I soon switched back to my normal filter brew coffee. Fortunately, most of the coffee pod making industries are coming slowly up with pods that can be recycled or biodegraded. I had some used coffee pods though and as Christmas approaches, I decided to do something with them: DIY Christmas Bell Ornaments out of used coffee pods!!! Here is how!
Materials you will need
To make these DIY Christmas Bell Ornaments you will need:
- Used, completely dried out coffee pods
- Spray paint of your choosing. I used white and inox colored spray paint
- Glitter in desired color
- small bells or beads
- Ribbon, Christmas embellishments of your choosing
- Hot glue gun and hot glue
How to make DIY Christmas Bell Ornaments out of used coffee pods
- As mentioned, you have to be sure that your coffee pods are dry inside and clean on the outside. Let them sit for weeks if needed. I left them out for two weeks. You might be able to cut them open from the bottom side and take off all the coffee, but I decided not to do that and left them as they are.
- Go outside and spread some paper on the floor, then place the coffee pods on the paper and spray paint them until they are completely painted. While they are still wet, sprinkle some glitter on top of them and on the sides as well. Let them dry, then paint the bottom side and let them dry again.
- Once completely dry, you can proceed to decorate them. Use hot-glue to secure a ribbon or rope for hanging the bells. Glue a bead or a metal bell onto the bottom of the bells. Glue on some decorative festive items, like artificial holly berry, bows, and stars. Let the glue dry.
- And that’s it! Your DIY Christmas Bells out of used coffee pods are ready to decorate your Christmas tree and look fabulous!!!
