Great hand-made gift idea: DIY Heart-Shaped Mini Album

heart shaped mini album

This idea is just beautiful, especially as a gift for the grandparents. It has some work involved, though, but I guess it is worth the effort! I guess you could make it somewhat more long-lasting, like covering it with some self-adhesive foil? I don’t really know. Anyway, you will need some 12×12 Kraft cardstock, glue, a scissor, patterned papers, photos, and embellishments. Fold the cardstock four ways and draw a half heart and then cut it out. This you will need to do two times, so in the end, you will have 4 hearts. The next step is to make hearts…

Roses out of citrus fruit peels

Romantic Dried Fruit Decoration Idea: Orange Peel Roses Orange’s peels are very versatile, as it seems! Remember the Toddler Fun Making Ornaments With Dried Citrus Fruits article? Here is another idea on how to use the peel. Make amazing dried fruit decoration flowers out of them. And the kids can easily help at any stage. Just the peeling will have to be done by a grown up. And maybe when you need to stabilize something with a toothpick, you should do that, too, if your kids are not old enough. All the other stuff – making the oranges, arranging them, dust…

DIY balance beam for toddlers using carpets

rolled carpets

This one was discovered by my kids. Here in Greece, most of us have winter carpets and – not that necessary – summer carpets. So, the time came for us to roll out our winter carpets, as annoying as it is to try to get some play dough out of it. We rolled the first one out, but, something – I don’t remember what – happened and we let the second one rolled up on the floor. The minute the kids saw it, the fun began! Up and down, back and forth, crawling, running or balancing, they couldn’t get enough…

Ikea Hack: How To Make A DIY Kids Bookshelf

Ready shelfs

Ikea Hack: How To Make A DIY Kids Bookshelf I didn’t have any place to arrange my children’s books, and I certainly didn’t want to spend a lot of money to store them. What did we do to make these kids bookcase? First of all we bought some inexpensive selves used for storing spice containers. We used the ones from IKEA,…

We made pompoms!!!

pompom educational game

As promised, I took my kids today outside and on the way to the grocery I made a quick stop at a store with yarns. We made plans to have some fun play with pompoms! I bought a few nice ones – actually, some were chosen by my three-year-old son (you know how they choose, right? Son: “That one mom, I want that one!” Me: “Oh that’s nice! But isn’t this one with the many colors super-great?” – Well, it worked half the times and we, fortunately, avoided that awful brownish one he wanted at first!). So, back at home, we…

Toddler Fun Play With Pompoms

I never thought pompoms are that versatile! There are a lot of great, fun ideas out there, to entertain a toddler with them! Of course, you have to supervise them heavily, especially if you want to give them to a young toddler (under 20 months or so). Here is something funny. I started out writing this article about pompoms because I saw great uses for them, believing that you only buy them from a craft store. And then I saw tutorials and I thought: Hey, I’ve done this!!! I recalled a long forgotten memory…somewhere in my past, I had made…

Amazing pine cone roses to make with your toddler

pinecone roses2

Now, tell me. Isn’t that a beautiful idea? And easy (I love easy!!!). What do you have to do? Well, first, grab a lovely bag (some have a special “treasure bag”) and then take a nice walk with your kids, gathering some well-shaped pine cones and suitable wooden twigs. While gathering, try to get writ of all the seeds that could be in the pine cones. Back at home, the next fun step can begin! Painting! Take all the possible measures to avoid getting paint all over your place (hint: you’ll never get 100% protection!). And then just paint the pine…

Amazing Dried Fruit Christmas Ornaments

dry ornaments2

Making our own Christmas ornaments with my kids is one of my favorite activities this time of year. One cheap but awesome and beautiful idea is to make some Dried Fruit Christmas Ornaments using citrus fruit peels! Sooooo nice! You can use any citrus fruit you like; oranges, mandarins, limes, grapefruits or lemons. Then, you have two choices. Either cut the fruit carefully into thin slices or peel carefully the skin off the fruit. If you choose to slice the fruits, arrange the slices on a lined baking tray and put the tray in a preheated oven at about 90-100°C.…
